DEG: THE DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT GROUP
ACKNOWLEDGES CREATIVE EXCELLENCE AT CES 2004 LAS VEGAS (Jan. 9, 2004) – DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group (formerly the DVD Entertainment Group) announced its first annual DEG Creative Excellence Awards last night at CES by giving honors to the three best DVD titles and the outstanding consumer electronics retailer of 2003. The DEG Creative Excellence Awards were presented at the group’s annual reception during the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The DEG awarded four top honors; three of these were given to acknowledge Creative Excellence in DVD titles released in calendar 2003. The judging panel, nominated by the motion picture studio and music company members of the DEG, consisted of journalists with extensive DVD reviewing experience. In addition to overall sound and picture quality, all titles were considered for those features that best demonstrate the value-added nature of the DVD format. The DEG Creative Excellence Awards were made in the following categories:

“On behalf of the DEG, we are delighted to present these awards to the year’s finest DVD titles,“ said Joe Stinziano, vice president, DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group and general manager, home audio/video, Sony Electronics. “The titles selected from our judging panel represent some of the year’s most notable examples of the format’s exciting flexibility, quality and creative potential.” The final award was presented to the consumer electronics retailer who has demonstrated excellence in merchandising and promoting new digital entertainment products during the calendar year. The selection was made based on nominations by consumer electronics manufacturers who are members of the DEG.
