DVD VIDEO GROUP PRESENTS INDUSTRY SYMPOSIUM TO EXPLORE THE DVD MUSIC VIDEO PROCESS
Executives Examine New Creative Applications for the DVD Format

LOS ANGELES, CALIF — Feb. 15, 1999 - On Tuesday, March 2, 1999, the DVD Video Group is hosting an industry symposium to explore the creative, production and promotional issues related to music video on the DVD Video format. Senior label executives and industry experts involved in all aspects of music will come together to share their insights and experiences with the new format.

With one and a quarter million DVD Video hardware players in U.S. households in less than two years, DVD Video is the fastest growing packaged entertainment format in history. Sales of DVD Video players are anticipated to double in 1999 while sales of DVD-compatible PCs are projected to reach approximately 10 million units.

Software sales have been equally impressive with nearly 15 million units sold last year alone. Music video titles currently account for nearly 10 percent of the 2,500 DVD Video titles available, with sales expected to reach one million units this year.

"Thanks to the overwhelming consumer response to DVD Video, music labels have embraced this highly interactive and flexible platform," said Emiel N. Petrone, chairman, DVD Video Group and executive vice president, Philips Electronics. "Our goal is to encourage the format’s development and growth so that it becomes an important platform for the entire music industry."

The DVD music video symposium will include four panels featuring a number of industry notables who will highlight the authoring, mastering, production, marketing and promotion issues related to DVD Video. Panelists will also demo recent titles and elaborate on all aspects of bringing product to market. A full list of panelists and moderators is attached.

The symposium will be held at Sony Music in New York City and is free of charge and open to all interested music executives. RSVP is mandatory. For more information, contact the DVD Video Group at (310) 967-2940. Attendance requests can be sent by fax to (310) 967-2941.
