DEG Is Now Accepting Nominations For the Fourth Annual EnTech Awards

LOS ANGELES (June 6, 2024) – DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group is pleased to announce the fourth annual EnTech Awards to be presented live and in person in Los Angeles on October 1, 2024. The DEG EnTech Awards and Recognition event will honor exceptional technology accomplishments in digital media distribution, achieved by both companies and individuals. This event will also encourage and promote excellence in all areas recognized by the DEG and showcase the importance of the Technology and Operations teams supporting digital distribution.

There will be several new award categories added this year: Technology Efficiency, Technology Innovation in Content Delivery, Technology Innovation in Content Distribution, Technology Innovation in Accessibility, Technology Advancement in Multi-Media Accessibility and Achievement in Connectivity and Interoperability. These new awards will join last year’s award categories of Technology Leadership, Localization Trailblazer, Rising Star and Emerging Technology. This year, the Hall of Fame Award will be bestowed solely by the judging body and will not be a nominated award. Nominations are now open and must be received by DEG on or before July 17, 2024.

At the awards event, DEG will also recognize those companies and individuals who participants believe are deserving of recognition with live voting for a People’s Choice Award.

Technology Efficiency Achievement Award: The Technology Efficiency Achievement Award honors recipients who have demonstrated technical efficiency in the supply chain and significantly contributed to the realization of technological advancements in their organization.

Technology Innovation in Content Delivery (BtoB) Award: The award honors an individual or a team for identifying a problem within the media and entertainment supply chain and creating a novel solution, such as an engineering lab, infrastructure, or product. The solution does not necessarily have to be implemented at the time the award is given. The innovation/technology can be a collaboration of more than one team and/or company. This is a business-to-business award. Nominators will need to provide a Use Case.

Technology Innovation in Content Delivery (BtoB) Award Nomination Form

Technology Innovation in Content Distribution (BtoC) Award: The award honors an individual or a team for identifying a consumer-facing problem and creating a novel solution in content distribution. The innovation/technology can be a collaboration of more than one team and/or company. This is a business-to-consumer award. Nominators will need to provide a Use Case.

Technology Innovation in Accessibility: This award honors an individual or team that has created accessibility technology innovations within the media and entertainment supply chain that meet and exceed regulation requirements. Nominators will need to provide a Use Case.

Technology Advancement in Multi-Media Accessibility: This award honors an individual or team that has created technological advancements in accessibility that enhance the user experience of multi-media entertainment, such as Audio Description, ASL, etc. Nominators will need to provide a Use Case.

Technology Advancement in Multi-Media Accessibility Nomination Form  

Technology Leadership Award: The award honors an individual or team for demonstrating leadership, implementing something technically that had an impact on the business as a whole (extending to the industry beyond their specific company). Recipients will have demonstrated leadership and significantly contributed to a recent project or other engagement within the last two years in the Technology & Operations function within entertainment technology. Nominators will need to provide a Use Case.

Localization Trailblazer Award: This award honors pioneering teams or individuals who have transformed the industry and introduced a game-changing innovation. Nominators will need to provide a Use Case.

Rising Star Award: This award honors an individual with no more than seven years total of professional experience who demonstrates an attitude of excellence and performs well above their experience level. This individual is a team player and finds solutions to industry challenges. They show great promise to lead, innovate, and inspire the entertainment technology industry throughout their career.

Emerging Tech Award: This award honors a company that created a new, consumer-facing technology that will likely positively affect the future of digital entertainment.

Achievement in Connectivity and Interoperability Award: This award acknowledges outstanding connectivity and interoperability performance in the Smart TV and connected device categories, as recognized by DEG in cooperation with HDMI Licensing Administrator. Product criteria includes seamless integration; enhanced functionality; and interoperability.

People’s Choice Award: This award is chosen during the event by attendees. All nominees are eligible to win this award. Limit to one vote each. 

 

There will be one award given in each category.

The year, all nominations must include a use case or example. Any incomplete submissions will not be considered.

To determine the award winners, DEG has enlisted a distinguished judging panel comprised of a cross-section of leaders representing entertainment technology. Among other factors, the judging panel will base its decision on the candidates’ contribution to a key goal or priority within the technology and operations function.
