Bruce Stein is responsible for the strategic direction and operations of aXiomatic and its eSports investment, Team Liquid. He has a wealth of expertise in building brands for technology, consumer products, entertainment and IP marketing on a global basis and has served as COO/Worldwide President/Board member of Mattel, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation), and President/CEO of Kenner Products.

Dr. Poppy Crum is Chief Scientist at Dolby Laboratories. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University in the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics and the Program in Symbolic Systems. At Dolby, Poppy directs the growth of internal science. She is responsible for integrating neuroscience and sensory data science into algorithm design, technological development, and technology strategy. At Stanford, her work focuses on the impact and feedback potential of new technologies including gaming and immersive environments such as Augmented and Virtual Reality on neuroplasticity and learning.

Poppy is a U.S. vice-chair to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) member of the Stanford Research Institute Technical Council, and Consumer Technology Association Board of Industry Leaders. Prior to joining Dolby Laboratories Poppy was Research Faculty in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where her neurophysiological research focused on understanding the neural correlates of how we hear in a complex acoustic environment and the functional circuitry of the auditory cortex.

Poppy is a Fellow of the Audio Engineering Society. She is a 2018 recipient of the Advanced Imaging Society’s Distinguished Leadership Award, a 2017 recipient of the Consumer Technology Association’s Technology and Standards Achievement Award for work towards the introduction of over-the-counter hearing-aid devices, and has been named to Billboard Magazine’s 100 most influential female executives in the music industry. She is a frequent speaker including, TED, SXSW, IEEE, TNW, WIRED, on topics related to the intersection of: human experience, artificial intelligence, sensory data-science, and immersive technologies.


As CEO and co-founder of aXiomatic Bruce Stein has been responsible for the strategic direction and operations of aXiomatic since its beginnings in 2015 with it’s Team Liquid investment. He is also a member of aXiomatic and Team Liquid’s Board of Directors and brings a wealth of expertise to both companies in building brands for technology, consumer products, entertainment, and intellectual property marketing on a global basis.

aXiomatic is an investment platform focused on professional esports, video game publishers, and gaming experiences which engage audiences across multiple genres. In the four years since aXiomatic acquired a controlling stake in Team Liquid, aXiomatic has also invested in tech based publishers including Epic Games, Niantic, Dapper Labs, Nifty Games as well as Matchrino, Mobalytics, Taunt, and other companies that serve passionate gaming communities. aXiomatic has a Board of renowned investors and entrepreneurs including Peter Guber, Ted Leonsis, Jeff Vinik and Bruce Karsh as well as active investor groups that include David Rubenstein, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and Tony Robbins.

Stein’s professional background includes executive management and operational experience at several world-class corporations as well as at start-up companies. He has served as COO/Worldwide President/Board member of Mattel, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (PlayStation), and President/CEO of Kenner Products. As President of Kenner, Bruce transformed a small, narrowly-focused toy company into one of the country’s largest, most successful promotional companies, leading it through several major transactions and ultimately selling it to Hasbro Toys where he oversaw its growth into Hasbro’s most profitable division.

Bruce has also worked at new media, entertainment and technology companies such as his time as CEO of Mandalay Media, CEO/Chairman of Radical Communication and Founder/CEO of family entertainment studio The Hatchery. Stein has served as a strategic advisor to PE, VC and early stage media, content and internet companies including 3 Black Dot, Dreamworks SKG, Warner Bros., Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Dasym Investment Strategies B.V., Puji Capital, Lottogopher and Guggenheim Capital.

Stein served on the Board of Directors of ViewSonic, Inc. and was Chairman of its Compensation Committee. He is an alum of YPO, served on the Board of Trustees of the Toy Manufacturers Assoc., and served as an advisor to The Freedom Center. Most recently he was appointed as a Member of the Steering Committe of China Americas Sports and Health Association. Stein received a B.A. from Pitzer College and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business.
