DEG Expo: The Expanding World of Localization | Videos and More

June 17, 2021 | Mark  Howorth, President, Iyuno-SDI Group, opened DEG’s “The Expanding World of Localization” Expo this week with a broad view on the state of localization, including challenges to the quality-time-cost delivery equation, and the need for greater localization capacity as the volume of content, available in more languages, continues to grow. For the future, he sees more consolidation among localization providers, greater capacity, a partnership model between content owners and localization providers and more focus on creative in localization.

Howorth’s opening remarks set up a rich program including a report from Dolby on the demand for immersive audio in localization globally.

Other segments included an executive roundtable, led by moderator Thomas Hughes, CEO The Americas of Vuulr, that covered the need for standard industry terminology, workflows and the increasing need for culturalization and diversity in translation and localization.

The Expo closed with a peek at ways AI driving innovation in localization, including Respeecher’s voice cloning technology and Spherex’s culturalization technology.
