January 12, 2023 | OMDIA: 2021 marked the pinnacle of digital media dominance of the top six consumer platforms: Alibaba, Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta, and Tencent. They will continue to hog the market but will see their collective share shrink from just over 65% last year to less than 61% in 2026, following years of continued market-share growth. This will include significant drops in three of the biggest segments – advertising, social media, and video – due largely to a single challenger: ByteDance’sDouyin/TikTok. In gaming, the main disruptor will be app-store billing liberalization, which will significantly dent Apple’s share.
