25 Mar All the Titles Slated for Early Home Release During the Coronavirus Pandemic
March 25, 2020 | With theaters closed in the U.S. and other markets globally, and people hunkered down at home in an effort to control the spread of the novel coronavirus, the major studios moved quickly in the past two weeks to accelerate the home releases of some titles. Strategies range from the simultaneous theatrical and premium VOD release being planned by DreamWorks Animation and Universal Pictures for Trolls World Tour (above) on April 10, to the early EST releases of some titles by Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures, and Disney’s early release of Frozen 2 to Disney+ (though it was already available on a transactional basis). Observers often lump all of these together under ther term “early VOD,” so DEG created this resource, which will be updated as often as necessary, to provide more details.
