Innovation in the Cloud – See the Presentation Decks From Our April 30 DEG Expo

April 30, 2020 | Sergei Kuharsky, EVP Franchise & Digital Enterprise , BBC Studios – Americas and a Board Director for DEG, opened DEG’s Innovation in the Cloud Expo by sharing his perspective on the importance of the cloud to entertainment production and distribution. Cloud levels the playing field for companies of different sizes, it enables cost efficiency and it makes any organization agile, he said, before sharing how migration to the cloud has played a role in the growth of the BritBox SVOD service, created by BBC in partnership with ITV.

During DEG’s second Expo, a panel of executives, moderated by OWNZONES advisor Mitch Berman, discussed how technology companies and content owners are working together to leverage the advantages of the cloud, as well as the factors currently blocking a full cloud transition, and the acceleration in the move to the cloud for both production and distribution as a result of the coronovirus crisis. Panel participants were Iyuno Media Group’s Chris Carey, Intel’s Lynn Comp, Technicolor’s Bob Eicholz, and Warner Bros. Technology’s Lena Wasikowski.

The other Innovation in the Cloud speakers also addressed trends in cloud migration, including cloud’s importance for enabling entertainment production and delivery, and immersive experience.

In this presentation, Intel’s Lynn Comp shared Intel’s vision for unleashing  intelligent visual experiences through on demand cloud and transformed edge networks so people can create, connect and immerse. As a wide range of visual experiences explode across the cloud and edge, she shares, organizations and service providers need more scalable infrastructures and a collection of hardware, software and open source tools. Ownzones walked attendess through how content creators can be enabled to encode, package, and deliver content from anywhere using the cloud.
